Ceilidh Privately organised ceilidhs are now extremely common in Scotland, where bands are hired, usually for evening entertainment for a wedding, birthday party or other celebratory event. These bands vary in size, although are commonly made up of between 2 and 6 players. The appeal of the Scottish ceilidh is by no means limited to the younger generation, and dances vary in speed and complexity in order to accommodate most age groups and levels of ability. It is the norm to combine ceilidh dancing with a DJ playing disco music in order to broaden the appeal of the evening's entertainment. The traditional image of a ceilidh where there are probably 2 or 3 men in formal Scottish wear play very regimental ceilidh music is still popular in certain areas where this type of act is required. We find that these are particularly suited to social gatherings of older people or military style events. However many of the military based events now prefer other styles. More commonplace is a lively ceilidh band typically performing at a wedding reception, corporate event or birthday party. We now provide ceilidh bands, along with our discos, to 18th and 21st birthday parties, graduation balls as well as a large number of wedding receptions and corporate events. The more lively ceilidh bands are more popular as they are about entertaining the audience with their 'banter' and bouncing playing style. Our preferred , and best value, format is a 3 piece ceilidh band with an accordianist, a fiddler and either a drummer or a keyboard player. A good fiddler can add a lot to the sound of a ceilidh band just as a poor one will add nothing. The same can be said of a drummer who uses his kit correctly and provides a full range of sounds to supplement the band. The accordianist is the main instrument so is given 'front stage' so to speak. Accordion playing styles, and even the types of accordian, provide different types of sound and are used in differing ways. It is important that a ceilidh caller is confident and good with people. Many of our bands add their own ceilidh calling style to their act. If you wish for a seperate caller to mingle with your guests and join the dancing then we can help with that too. Yes, our ceilidh bands each have their own 'act', they do much more than just play music!! We, Premeir Disco, believe we have found a number of 'professional' bands with varying lively and entertaining styles ideal for the type of events we are asked to perform at. Each, and every, ceilidh band we employ on your behalf has been auditioned by us to ensure they meet the standard we expect, and we expect a very high standard for our clients. We use the same handful of the best ceilidh bands on a regular basis because we know we can rely on them just as much as they can rely on us. Our disco/ceildh band packages are excellent value. They combine the best disco and ceilidh band combinations that are used to working together to provide a seamless performance at your event.
